Sadly the due dates for other good conferences have way passed (ICIP, CVPR, ICPR, ICML, IJCNN, ICME etc.). The following conferences are of no particular order:

• ICONIP 2011, Shanghai, 14/11., deadline: 1/6
• ACPR, 1st Asian Conference on Pattern Recognition, 28/11, deadline: 15/6
• ICDM’11, Vancouver, 11/12, deadline: 17/6
• AI’2011, Perth, 5/12, deadline: 28/6

CVPR’11 has finished paper review and it’s interesting to see the acceptance across subject areas.

I have probably mentioned too many applications of machine learning and data mining in the 1st lecture.

To add to the already long list, here is an interesting article about an IEEE Spectrum article that a Harvard Medical Research that enables computers to detect and diagnose mental diseases such as bipolar and depression. Clues? EEG signals, and fMRI brain imaging. Techniques? Machine learning algorithms.
